NAASLN CONFERENCES

NAASLN Conferences are always an experience to remember. The international audience, the array of sessions and conversations, the networking, the incredible information, the hotel facilities, the committed exhibitors... all added to the success of the experience!

In 2005 the NAASLN presentation at the NAEPDC meeting and the pre-conference Policy Panel at the NAEPDC/NAASLN sessions received extremely positive feedback from the attendees, who identified the panel as one of the most helpful sessions for thinking about how to proceed as a State Director, as well as how to support state initiatives for adults with special/specific learning needs.

A conference highlight has always been the recognition of individuals and groups, who are making a professional contribution to the life long learning for adults with special learning needs. The NAASLN 2005 Distinguished Service Awards went to the Montana Coach Network of Jean Dahlman, Margaret Girkins, Vicki Mattingly, Jackie Provance, and Megan Thompson; Fran Holthaus, Upper Valley JVS, Ohio; and Kaye Cockrum, Houston AEL, Missouri.

The NAASLN 2005 President's Award was given to CASAS, GED Testing Service and McGraw-Hill Companies for their ongoing accommodation efforts to make their materials accessible to all adult learners.
